Working Title have confirmed the name change of David Tennant’s new TV project via their website today. The production company have now updated the programme logo and production details to reflect the change from Love Life to True Love.
The name change follows amicable discussions between the BBC and ITV after both companies commissioned dramas called Love Life last year. It has been agreed that ITV will retain the title for their three-part series.
David Tennant plays Nick in the first episode of the five-part drama opposite This Is England star Vicky McClure. True Love was largely unscripted, with the actors just being given an outline for their story by creator Dominic Savage and then being encouraged to develop their characters and improvise dialogue. It is the first major BBC drama to have been created in this way.
True Love is expected to screen on BBC1 in late Spring.
