David Tennant News
Name Change For Love Life
It seems as though the BBC and ITV have resolved their conflict over who will use the title ‘Love Life’ for their new dramas. According to ATV Today, entertainments trade industry news site Broadcastnow have posted that the issue has been resolved after some amicable discussions.
Last year both broadcasters announced that they had commissioned the identically titled dramas. The BBC announced their production first: a series of five thought-provoking, semi-improvised half-hour stories created by Dominic Savage. David Tennant plays Nick in the first of these opposite Vicky McClure; other tales feature Billie Piper, David Morrissey, Jane Horrocks and Ashley Walters. ITV followed shortly afterwards, announcing a three-part drama written by Bill Gallagher of Lark Rise To Candleford fame.
Today it appears that the BBC programme will now be going out under the title True Love. Interestingly, when rumours first started to appear about David Tennant’s involvement in the project back in August 2011, this was the title that was given, significantly by the actress Gemma Chan who spoke about her own casting on her website. The BBC and ITV have yet to confirm the story and Working Title, who have produced the Dominic Savage series for the BBC have yet to make any changes on their own website. The drama is thought to be coming to BBC1 in May 2012.
