Illuminations have revealed that they will be releasing the filmed performances of Shakespeare’s Sonnets from their iPad app as a DVD.

Product synopsis:

Released alongside a spectacular edition of Shakespeare's Sonnets for the Apple iPad, this beautifully produced DVD features specially filmed performances of all 154 Sonnets by a stellar cast of actors including, Fiona Shaw, Sir Patrick Stewart and David Tennant.

The Region 0 PAL format DVD is due to be released in July with a rrp of £14.99. The running time is around 180 minutes.

Other big names involved in the project include Bruce Alexander, Annette Badland, Simon Callow, Kim Cattrall, Oliver Ford Davies, Stephen Fry, Andrew Motion, Jemma Redgrave, Dominic West, Simon Russell Beale, John Heffernan and Harriet Walter.

The app and DVD are a joint production with Touch Press, the Arden Shakespeare and Faber & Faber. The Apple iPad app is due for release around June 28^th.
