David Tennant was among the audience of the latest heat of Let’s Dance For Sport Relief, lending his support to former landlady Arabella Weir, who was one of the latest batch of contenders.

Arabella performed Kylie Minogue’s I Can’t Get You Out Of My Head in the charity dance competition, dressed in the singer’s iconic white hooded outfit. David was spotted giving her a standing ovation after her routine. He was then interviewed by Alex Jones just before the results were announced.

David talked about having lodged with Arabella (he had a room in her house when he first moved to London and stayed for five years after they met on the set of Takin’ Over The Asylum). He confessed to having benn “well and truly gobsmacked” by the routine, adding “my breath is taken away”. In response to Alex’s question about whether he had realised that Arabella had that in her he recalled that there had been a lot of loud singing in the kitchen but he certainly didn’t remember anything like that! David suggested that there could be a Kylie tribute act in it as, as he said “he couldn’t slip a bus ticket beween them”.

Arabella was up against competition from fellow comedian Omid Djalili, presenter Kirsten O'Brien, young actors Dani Harmer and Tyger Drew-Honey, and Radio 1’s Scott Mills with singer Ollie Murs and a special surprise guest appearance in the form of David Hasselhoff.

Unfortunately Arabella, along with Kirsten, did not make it through the viewers' vote. Dani and Tyger won the heat outright leaving it up to the judges Tim Minchin, Katy Brand and Ed Byrne to put Omid through ahead of Scott and Ollie.

The grand final of Let’s Dance For Sport Relief takes place on Saturday 17th March on BBC1. The Sport Relief Night of TV is Friday 23rd March on BBC1 and BBC2, starting at 7pm.
