According to Filmdates, the UK release date of Postman Pat: You Know You’re The One has been moved to Winter 2013 from the original date of 24th May. The North American release date of 27th November 2013 currently remains unchanged.
The storyline shows Pat being tempted away from his beloved Greendale by the easy fame, bright lights and shiny suits of reality TV when he enters a national talent show hosted by a slimy Simon Cowell like figure called Simon Cowbell.
Stephen Mangan is the speaking voice of Pat while and Gary Barlow providing Pat’s singing voice. David Tennant, Rupert Grint and Jim Broadbent provided the voices of other yet to be named characters. David Tennant did confirm on a Radio 5 interview that he had based the voice of his character on classic 1970’s Scots actor Iain Cuthbertson.
Stephen Mangan said of his casting:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be playing the world’s best-known postman in his big-screen debut. However, when I excitedly told my 3-year-old son that I was going to be Postman Pat, he said: ‘No you’re not, dad, don’t be silly.’”
The movie, produced Classic Media (Rubicon) is written by Kim Fuller and Annika Bluhm and directed by Mike Disa.
