Pauline Quirke is the latest name to be attached to the new ITV drama series Broadchurch. The information was revealed in an article in local Sheffield paper The Star about the actress’s on-stage sitcom revival.
The new eight-part series Broadchurch, produced by Kudos for ITV 1, is strongly rumoured to be starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman. Based on the Danish detective drama The Killing, the Chris Chibnall-scripted drama is thought to be shooting between August and December for broadcast early next year.
Pauline Quirke is perhaps best known to UK audiences for her role as Sharon in the classic BBC comedy series Birds Of A Feather (1989-98), which she is currently reviving for a live theatre show. However, she has had a long and varied television career, from her debut as a child actor in Dixon Of Dock Green, as a children’s TV presenter, in serious drama roles, such as the 1996 psychological thriller The Sculptress, and a stint in soapland as Emmerdale’s Hazel Rhodes.
No formal confirmation about the cast or plot of Broadchurch has been given yet, but Chris Chibnall has stated that a press release will be made available very soon.
