More information about David Tennant’s one-man performance during the Derry City Of Culture 2013 festivities has been posted online, but the event organisers warn that details so far released could be misleading as the official programme has not yet been confirmed.
A preliminary programme of events for the Derry City Of Culture posted by the Londonderry Sentinel has given a name and proposed performance date for David’s one-man play. The play, written by local theatre director and playwright Andy Hinds is called Sea Lavender and is about the 17th Century Siege of Derry. According to the draft programme it is due to be performed on 9th May 2013. So far the performance location is unnamed, and there are no details about whether it will be a one-off performance or will have a longer run.
However, the Culture Company, organisers of the Festival are said to be angry that the draft programme was published in the press today and have warned that at this point they are unable to confirm or announce any of the events listed therein. They claim that the ”unofficial and inaccurate” timetable is based on leaked information that is simply in a draft form and that some of the events are still under negotiation and may not actually occur as planned. An official programme of events will be published in September with a highlights trailer at the end of May.
