A new casting rumour involving David Tennant has appeared on the internet this evening.
With casting for the sixth instalment in the Fast And The Furious franchise well underway ahead of its summer shoot, US-based Latin-American website Latino Review have blogged that David Tennant is in talks for a role in the movie.
The site claims that David, who is currently in Poland shooting TV drama The Spies Of Warsaw, has been having Skype conversations with director Justin Lin over an unnamed part.
‘Fast Six’ will start shooting at Shepperton Studios in Surrey later this month. It is thought that David will be shooting Spies until mid-June, making it unlikely that, if the rumour is true, the part is a major one, although this depends of course on the length of the Fast shoot and when filming actually does begin.
Singer Rhianna was rumoured to be up for a part in the movie, but denied any involvement with the film yesterday. Welsh actor Luke Evans, currently shooting The Hobbit in New Zealand, is thought to have been offered a role today. It could turn out to be that this was the part that David was in talks for.
The Fast And The Furious films have a high-octane reputation and a tough guy cast, with stars like Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Paul Walker. We can only assume then that the director was drawn to David after being impressed by his Top Gear speed lap performance. So, could this be another chance for David to demonstrate his car-handling skills? Can he prove finally to Billie Piper that he is the better driver? Can he get to the end of the film without breaking third gear? Will the producers even let him near a car, reasonably priced or otherwise?
We have to stress again that this is very much a casting rumour at this stage, but we will be sure to update you if we hear anything more.
