Another internet rumour has surfaced about a possible future project for David Tennant. A tentative suggestion on Gallifrey Base has linked David to the lead role in The Politician’s Husband, a new three-part drama commissioned by BBC Two.
The Politician’s Husband is written by Paula Milne (White Heat, The Virgin Queen) and will be directed by Simon Cellan Jones (The Borgias, The Trial Of Tony Blair). It will be produced by Daybreak Pictures, the drama arm of Mentorn Media. Filming is due to begin this month for broadcast early next year. BBC Two controller Janice Hadlow, who commissioned the project along with Ben Stephenson, the drama head, said the series would be a “contemporary drama about the relationship between power, men, love, marriage, all those things. It is quite fantastic.”
From the Mentorn International website:
The Politician’s Husband is a drama exploring what happens in a political marriage when the wife becomes more successful than her husband.
Aiden Hoynes, a senior Cabinet Minister, is happily married to Freya, a junior Minister who has consistently put her own career ambitions on hold for the sake of Aiden’s career and their family.
When Aiden’s career path to the top echelons comes to an abrupt halt, the power balance within his marriage is irrevocably shifted as he witnesses his wife’s political career soar.
In his desperation to cling to power, Aiden risks destroying everything he holds most dear.

In recent weeks David has been linked to two more projects as the filming of The Spies Of Warsaw in Poland draws to a close. Last week The Sun reported that he had been cast in the lead role of ITV’s new detective drama, supposedly called Broadchurch, based on the Danish Sarah Lund thrillers, which starts filming in August. David was also said to be in talks over a role in the latest instalment in the Fast And Furious franchise, but since the casting of Luke Evans in the villain role there has since been silence on that front.
As yet there has been no official confirmation that David has formally signed on to any of these projects
